Putting on a world-class event, with a tight budget, in a remote and challenging venue staying true to the mission of growing the sport.

THE RESULT

The Green Race has become the largest and most iconic extreme whitewater kayaking event in the world.  With over 2,000 people hiking into the rugged canyon to spectate and almost 200 racers each year, it is what we call the “Greatest Show in All of Sports”.  A community comes together on the first Saturday of November each year to share an experience that leaves everyone feeling part of something amazing.  The racers train for months, some to simply complete the race course others to win the coveted glass trophy.  The spectators block off the dates and literally travel from around the world to see the race.

The Green Race has succeeded in spades with its mission to grow the sport.  Kayak manufacturers have created an entirely new category of boat for this race.  New and exciting races have started to spring up around the world.  The race is regularly covered on major TV networks and reaches more than a million people online each year.  It is now all too common to hear stories of spectators taking up the sport and eventually racing themselves.  It’s virtually impossible if you’re a kayaker to escape getting caught up in The Green Race!
